PCU opposes right wing attempts to use the safety of women as a weapon to spread racism and division. Our Executive Committee has signed an open letter calling for an end to the harmful and misleading narratives that link asylum seekers with sexual abuse.

As psychotherapists and counsellors, we know how damaging such narratives can be – they stigmatise vulnerable people, deepen social divides and fuel racism. Violence against women is an urgent and serious issue and requires attention but the far right are interested in vilifying asylum seekers rather than seeking solutions.
