We are pleased to share an opportunity for counsellors (members and non-members) to contribute to a study on counsellors’ perspectives of working with adolescents who are autistic.

Shazia Parveen, an MSc Counselling student at Birmingham City University, is looking for participants for her dissertation research study:

“An exploration of counsellors’ perspectives on working with adolescents who are autistic”

This study seeks to explore your experience of counselling autistic young people.

• How do you build the therapeutic relationship?
• What do they need from you and from the therapy?

It is hoped that this research can shed light on the unique experiences of autistic people to improve their experience of therapy.

Shazia would like to hear from qualified counsellors who are working with adolescent teens who are diagnosed autistic or self-identify as autistic. 

If you feel discussion of these topics might be upsetting or distressing, it is recommended that you do not take part.

What participation involves:

• A confidential, informal online interview via Microsoft Teams

• There will be 12 questions about your experience
