True to form, BACP ushers in further unfairness with its implementation of the SCoPEd framework.

While it claims to recognise that many registered members are “experienced practitioners who have gained significant knowledge, skills and experience,” its actions tell a different story.

➡️ Many registered members wishing to move from Column A to B must now pay £110, already a significant fee.

➡️ But what if you didn’t complete a BACP-approved core training or a BACP-approved Column B progression course? You’ll be charged an astonishing £310, just to have your prior learning recognised.

This is not just an administrative fee, it’s a financial barrier and a devaluation of the diverse routes many counsellors have taken to gain their skills and experience. It risks penalising those who haven’t followed BACP’s preferred path, despite being ethical, competent, and experienced practitioners.

BACP are offering some financial support to members that qualified for reduced membership fees, but we note that there is no cost-free option.

BACP are holding an online event on Thursday 28th August to answer members’ questions, we’d recommend booking a place and pre-submitting a question so that concerns are raised with BACP.

We continue to call out the unfairness of the SCoPEd framework and stand with everyone affected by these unjust measures.
